Guide to the Best Breakfast and Brunch in Albuquerque, NM
Vic's Daily Cafe
- Southwest Breakfast and Brunch
- 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Looking for a heartier brunch? There are pork cutlets, corned beef hash, and chicken fried steak on the breakfast menu, or you can flip over to the burgers and sandwiches on the lunch menu or jump straight to fresh pies and cakes for dessert.
The Grove Cafe & Market
Mimi's Cafe
- Bistro with Brunch
- 7 AM - 9 PM
We've been having breakfast (and lunch and dinner) at Mimi's for generations. Mimi's Cafe is a bistro-style restaurant that first started serving all-day brunch in Albuquerque in 1978. Mimi's specializes in fresh, hand-prepared comfort food and bistro classics with a focus on all our favorite breakfast foods. Also, unlike most other brunch spots, they're open late into the evening, which we absolutely love.
Mimi's serves everything from chicken and waffles to breakfast quiche to perfectly grilled steak and potatoes. They make fresh and beautiful pastries for breakfast and delectable confections like chocolate lava cake for dessert. Did we mention there's a cocktail bar? The eclectic style sets your all-day brunch experience in fun and relaxing surroundings, and they deliver!
Sunnyside Up Breakfast and Lunch Cafe
- Diner-Style Classics
- 7 AM - 2 PM
- Close to home
There's one kind of breakfast that we love from coast to coast: Classic American diner breakfast and brunch. You'll find this hearty homestyle breakfast experience at Sunnyside Up. This welcoming brunch spot glows with cheerful warmth with a choice between tables with kitchen-style tables, comfy wooden booths, and sunny terrace dining.
The menu is chock full of everything you could want from a cozy breakfast diner. Egg platters and omelets, pancakes and French Toast, benedicts and scrambles, skillets and hashes, biscuits smothered in gravy and croissant sandwiches: They've got it all. For the lunch-style menu, you'll find juicy burgers, fresh salads, and meaty sandwiches.
But they really go all-out with the waffles. Sunnyside Up will smother your waffles in whipped cream, fresh fruit, pecans, syrup, and sprinkles, you name it. We also love that they're close to home, less than a 10-minute drive from Mission Hill Apartments.
Donut Mart
- Donuts, Pastries, and Breakfast Sandwiches
- 5 AM - 5 PM
Last but never least is our local favorite donut spot. Breakfast in Albuquerque wouldn't be complete without a place to sate your donut cravings. Donut Mart may have a simple name, but their menu is complete with more than just frosted fried dough rings at all four of their Albuquerque locations. And unlike other donut shops, they're open until early dinner time.
They have giant cinnamon rolls and eclairs to round out the sweets, and their options for savory breakfast include breakfast sandwiches, burritos, and quesadillas in classic Albuquerque style.
Tia B's La Waffleria
- Southwest Breakfast and Specialty Waffles
- 8 AM - 2 PM
Albuquerque is one of the few cities in the world to have a Waffleria, a Southwest-style brunch spot that specializes in delicious waffles. Tia B's La Waffleria is a quaint down-home cafe with beautiful outdoor seating. There are a couple of indoor tables for rainy days, but the experience is among the umbrella-shaded picnic tables on the hand-laid brick patio. There's a covered porch section that provides heaters in the winter.
The menu features sweet and savory waffles, from waffles rancheros to salted caramel waffles and everything in between - plus an awesome list of sweet and savory add-ons to any waffle combo. The "Not waffles" menu is also delicious, featuring the heartland breakfast and several tasty scrambles, all made with delightfully fresh ingredients.
Start Your Day Right
The best way to start your day is in your Albuquerque apartment, followed by a delicious breakfast. Sunnyside Up is our particular favorite because it's so close to Mission Hill Apartments that you can include it in your commute or swing out for a weekend breakfast any day of the week. But to truly enjoy the incredible brunch culture here in Albuquerque, you should try them all.
